Surfing and Kayaking at Cloud 9 – My Siargao Adventure (Part 5)

Around 5PM Feb. 9, 2012 we checked in our things at the Boardwalk Resort. We rented two of their rooms for a total price of PhP 3,350/night (I am not sure if there were names of the rooms we stayed). The staff were friendly especially the owner named Rhoda. The resort is a perfect place for surfers since it has close proximity to Cloud 9. According to their website http://www.surfingsiargao.com/, The Boardwalk is the original Cloud 9 resort. And I believe so.

I can say that we did not regret that we chose this resort. Rhoda was very accommodating. She even helped us carry the kayak. She allowed us to bring their surf boards at the beach for picture taking purposes only. I think she would do everything she can so we can have the best vacation at their resort. So Kudos to Rhoda! :)

When we arrived at the resort, I was really tired because of the long land travel we had. Though the beach was inviting, I wanted to relax. My friends already got their surfboards and seized the time playing with it. I was crazy. So I went outside. I did not plunge into the water because I knew I would do it the next day. Instead, I walked along the boardwalk and experienced the feeling of being there. I took pictures of the waves and all of the beautiful surroundings. All I heard was the noise created by the sea waves. It was a joyful experience. In the end, I was already relaxed and comforted by the ambiance. So to speak, the following are the pictures that will prove what I am talking about.

At around 8pm, we had our slightly sumptuous dinner at the resort. We were budget travelers and Rhoda helped us served our dinner at a very reasonable price we can afford. We were all 9 and our dinner only cost PhP 1,550.00 I love their pancit cantoon!

That was a romantic night for us! haha And the night was full moon! The rest of the night was spent into chit chatting while they had a drinking session of Mojitos. Of course, I was excused by their drinking session. Typical Truth or Dare game also happened while they had the Mojitos. Uhmmm… I did not really like the game since most of the questions thrown were too personal but I guess Nelly liked it. haha So be it. We slept 12AM Feb. 10, 2012

Zzzzz…

The next day… February 10, 2012

I woke up early at 530AM to do what I planned. I wanted to swim. We borrowed the resort’s kayaks and long boards and there we were… We were all excited. See, we were all first timers in Kayaking. I really had fun. My arms were exercised due to paddling. It was indeed a vacation! haha I wished I paddled all the way to the cloud 9 and fought the sea waves but Rhoda was concerned of our safety and reminded us not to go through the cloud 9. She thinks it is dangerous. I believe her. The resort’s long boards were for rent at PhP 200/hour or PhP 500/day. If you wish to learn surfing, they would offer tutorial to newbies at PhP 500/hour. I did not have the luxury of getting that tutorial so I enjoyed most of the time kayaking. Well, kayak rental is free.

At 7AM I was hungry. That time, we decided to order by ourselves. No more group breakfast. I ordered their French toast with Bacon for only PhP 150.00 and my beverage was 8oz bottled Coca-cola PhP 40.00. Hmmmm. I like the taste of their toast but their bacon was mediocre. Most of my friends ordered All American Breakfast for only PhP 175.00

The resort has a free wifi so bring my laptop was not bad at all. Sad thing was it rained very hard after we ate our breakfast. There were no amateur or professional surfers present so we did not see one in action. We just spent the whole remaining morning kayaking. We did not have any more money to rent their long boards.

We consumed all our rights as guests of the resort. We super enjoyed our stay. Hill brought his tent but we were not able to use since the resort discouraged it. According to Rhoda, strong winds will blow away the tent and yet she was right. The whole morning was raining. We checked out at 12PM and ready for our next stop: Magpupungko Beach in Pilar, Siargao.
