Next stop:Cloud 9, General Luna – My Siargao Adventure (Part 4)

Feb 9, 2012 Around 1pm. We were ready to go to our next stop: Cloud 9, General Luna, Siargao. The place is best known for its surfing waves where the annual Siargao Cup is held.

Based on the signs I saw on our trip, the picture on the left shows the route we went through. It was a long journey that could cause pain on your butt for sitting so long inside the vehicle. About 60% of the roads we passed by were cemented. We were so blessed that Ivan’s relative let us borrow their Isuzu Crosswind because if not we would end up riding in a habal-habal (motorbikes). I think the whole land travel (Sapao, Sta. Monica – Cloud 9, General Luna) took about 3 and a half hours.

One of the not cemented roads we passed. That was somewhere in San Isidro, Siargao. The carabao is indeed a farmer’s best friend.

Around 3PM, we arrived in Poblacion, General Luna. We stopped by a park in front of an elementary school (I did not know the name of that school) to do sightseeing and of course, to take pictures. We were all cam whores. lol The park runs along the shores of the Poblacion with white sands on it. We saw a beautiful island in a distant. On the far end,  there was a bridge made of woods that connected the park to another shoreline. Let me show you the following pictures so you will understand what I am talking about. It is like I don’t have anymore words to describe the place. haha

We wandered some parts of the Poblacion to buy some junk foods and that time I also needed to buy a sunscreen. It turned out that the SPF 35 sunscreen sachet was expensive. I bought it for PhP70.00 when I knew it was only PhP35.00 at Watsons. Also, did I mention that only Smart mobile network services the whole Siargao? So do not bring your Globe and Sun mobile phones because you will not get a signal when you are there. Glad to know that there was a Smart 3G signal in General Luna.

After we satisfied ourselves in wandering the said place, our next plan was to look for a cheaper resort in Cloud 9. Going there was really pure intentional, I meant Cloud 9 was not that accessible knowing the roads we passed by were muddy and slightly deluged. From Poblacion to Cloud 9 took us about 40mins of travel.

Our plan was to rent a room and stay in Cloud 9 for the night. After our careful resort hunting, we then checked in our things at The Boardwalk Resort. I will talk about this resort in my next blog entry.
