finally bought my own laptop, ASUS K40Ij review

Finally, I bought a laptop for myself. This is a dream come true for me. This is my first investment since I got my job. And I am happy.

The model is ASUS K40IJ, great deal. It came with a free Canon printer when I purchased this laptop last May. It does not include an OS though. I bought Windows Starter for PhP 2.7K. I did not like Windows Starter, you can’t personalize your laptop that much. You can not change your desktop wallpaper with Starter. So, I decided to upgrade to Home Premium through Windows Anytime Upgrade. Then on, I like Windows 7.

*Just thought of posting my wallpaper.

Asus K40IJ is a perfect laptop for me. This is suitable for web designers like me. Its temperature is cool no matter how many hours it operates. I can leave my laptop ON for 24 hours 7 days a week yet it does not overheat. Also, this laptop is not that heavy to carry. Pretty portable!

The picture of my phased out Asus K40Ij.

saving for my personal laptop

If you ask me what is the number 1 in my wish list, it should be a laptop. If you knew me very well, you don’t need to raise the question since the answer is already obvious.

For me, having a laptop is not a want. If we try to go back to our Economics subject, wants and needs, I would classify buying a laptop as my need. First and foremost, I want to have a part time job as a web developer/blogger. It is not because I am not satisfied with my current job, it is just that it would be too impractical if I can’t make money just because I don’t have a tool to work on it. Yeah, I need to invest.

So yeah, I am saving my money so I can buy a laptop. I need to be thrifty these days. I aim to save PhP5,000.00/mo so after 6 months or so I am ready to rush at the mall and buy my laptop. lol Please help me God! I already told my parents and they were very supportive about it.

I will be disconnecting my Smartbro at home. My computer is already damaged and there is no sense of paying for the internet. This would help me. I also thank God for the blessings. Countless blessings! I just got regularized and my paycheck has increased. Yikes!

I need to be patient. Loaning some cash just to buy a laptop would be scary for me as a first timer in loaning. So loaning is not an option for me. There was also a time when I was very interested in credit cards, but after I read the requirements, it then stopped me and told me that I don’t qualify for it. I guess, saving PhP5,000.00/mo can be exciting. Hope I can do it.

I am eying for Dell, Acer, Asus, HP or any laptop that would be suitable for a web designing job. Anyone can recommend what and where to buy? I am based here in Cebu, Philippines. Hopefully by July I can buy one.

Here are some links I am interested with:

Anything else you can suggest? I would appreciate it. Until here, thank you guys for reading!
